Your innovative projects

INVENTIA’s R&D initiatives are structured around two main strategic lines:
- Smart‑MAIT‑Optimized (sMAITo) and Industrialization: INVENTIA promotes a Design‑to‑Automation approach in which satellite platforms are conceived from the early design stages for automated, modular and high‑rate MAIT. The sMAITo framework integrates advanced manufacturing processes, special-purpose machinery and digital methodologies to enable scalable, repeatable and cost‑efficient industrialization of space systems. This approach targets the transition from traditional MAIT practices towards highly automated production environments aligned with the needs of LEO/VLEO constellations and ECSS‑compliant industrial ecosystems.
- Disruptive Platforms for Extreme Environments: INVENTIA develops enabling technologies for platforms operating in extreme environments, including VLEO/ULEO, upper atmosphere and re-entry regimes. These initiatives address combined thermo‑mechanical loads, aerodynamic interaction and system survivability. The objective is to support new mission concepts based on hybrid space‑atmosphere operation, including reusable platforms and post‑reentry operational capabilities.

In this context, the following projects are particularly relevant:
• NEST (Next Embedded Satellite Technologies): Development of a novel satellite platform architecture based on multifunctional embedded subsystems, integrating structural, thermal and electrical functions into a single technological substrate.
• RPF (Retractable Payload Fairing): Development and validation of a retractable, non‑ejectable fairing mechanism capable of remaining closed during re-entry and enabling controlled opening in the upper atmosphere for payload operation.
• NEXUS (Experimental Extremophile ULEO Suborbital Spacecraft): Development of a reusable hybrid aerospace platform capable of transitioning between ULEO orbital flight and controlled atmospheric re-entry through integrated propulsion, adaptive aerodynamics and advanced thermal protection.
• NEOXTRAT (NEar‑space Operational eXtreme TRans‑Atmospheric Technologies): Development of an autonomous trans‑atmospheric platform optimized for multi‑regime flight from stratospheric to suborbital conditions, combining efficient propulsion, high‑performance aerodynamics and resilient guidance, navigation and control.
